OUR HISTORY

Cayo Energy L.P. was formed in 2006 to work with E&P operators as an exploration prospect generation consultancy and as an overriding royalty interest holder (ORRI), while also providing geoscience consulting services to the oil and gas industry. In its early years, Cayo successfully generated and sold prospects primarily in Latin America and was especially successful in assisting operators in the capture of new exploration blocks in Colombia. Our experience in the region facilitated the entry and subsequent capture of highly prospective acreage by Burlington Resources, Pacific E&P, BP, Petrolifera Petroleum, and PanAtlantic Exploration. Cayo’s Colombian prospects were successfully drilled and completed as oil, gas and condensate discoveries in several blocks, and are still in commercial production.

Cayo Energy has continued to evolve with the needs of a changing industry. Our upstream consulting practice focuses on providing sound technical guidance and advice on investment opportunities in the upstream oil and gas sector to independent upstream operators, private equity holders, financial institutions, government institutions, and high-net worth individuals (“family houses”). Our midstream consultancy focuses on asset evaluations and reserve/resource assessments, providing midstream operators a view towards right-sizing infrastructure for present and future needs. With restructuring and reorganization activities on the upswing, Cayo can also utilize its extensive leadership experience in top-level management and technical roles to customize and build fit for purpose strategic plans, and help you align your business focus with your asset base and organizational needs (staffing and alignment of all management, technical and operational staff). Our consultants have many years of recent M&A experience on the buy and sell sides and can provide the guidance you need to sort through an abundance of assets and distressed companies to find the hidden gems that best fit your business objectives.
